Joyce HingPO Box 2072, Napa, CA 94558707.337.7658 — jhm@interx.net Artist Statement A former educator, with a doctorate in school administration and author of adult instructional workbooks, Joyce Hing began studying Chinese Brush Painting from Master teacher and artist Michael Ling at the Chinese Culture Center in San Francisco in 1993. His Lingnan style of teaching Chinese Brush Painting is based on powerful brushstrokes and bright coloring, with an emphasis on painting from nature. Joyce has also studied under award-winning Chinese calligrapher and painter Aiquin Zhou at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Joyce was her husband’s full-time caregiver for over three years. During this time, she found that painting was not only therapeutic but also a way to express and develop her creative talent. The response to her exquisite watercolors has given her tremendous satisfaction and she strives to create paintings that will bring beauty and serenity into the lives of others. In addition to the watercolor scrolls and paintings, Joyce has published A “Birthday Calendar” and a line of note cards. She has also created the art images for a line of crystal glassware and ceramic serve ware for wholesaler, Wine Things Unlimited in Sonoma. Bamboo etched crystal glassware was designed exclusively for Tommy Bahama retail stores. Joyce has exhibited her work at The Chinese Culture Center, The Asian Art Museum, and Artist Xchange in San Francisco, Alexis Baking Company, Markham Vineyards and Mahoney Vineyards in the Napa Valley. Permanent artwork is featured at the Scottsdale Athletic Club and Resort—Villa Guestrooms and Eurasia Spa. |
