Tony Peju designed the abundant Peju Gardens, and Herta Peju oversees their care. The gardens change on a daily basis and visitors often glimpse HB guiding the planting and pruning, with her hands in the dirt!

As you approach Peju Winery, you are greeted by a row of graceful Sycamore Trees, which bend gently in the direction of the wind. The trees are unusual due to their pruning, which is Tony Peju's vision and his lifelong hobby. Over the holiday season, they are entwined with red lights.

The West side of the garden is known as "Willow Creek", named from the Curly Willow tree growing next to the Koi Pond. Bowl-shaped indentations in the rocks are believed to have been made by the local Whappo Indians that lived in the Valley. The rocks used for Willow Creek are all local, chosen from the Peju Persephone Ranch property in Pope Valley.

As you leave Willow Creek, you pass between two columns topped by antique cornices. Deep red Pillar Roses stand beside the cornices. You are then lead to the central circular courtyard, containing a magnificent Camphora Tree with rosemary draped at its base. It resembles a huge candelabra, which is appropriate, as the area was designed for gala events.

Passing through the ornate iron gates, you reach the front of the Tasting Room. The flowerbeds here are especially beautiful and always changing. It is a lovely place to just linger, savoring the view.
