When I started the winery 25 years ago, I had a detailed vision of what it would become. This vision included the newest tasting room, adjacent to the now landmark Tower. The new room does not attempt to compete with the perfection of the Tower; it only shares the 20 x 10 ½ foot stained glass that separates the two.
I did not know what to do as an encore to the Tower, so I decided to design the room in three colors. The floor is comprised of 15 x 9-foot slabs of red and green quartzite mined in Brazil, with a medallion in the center of each one. To match the floor are five-foot hanging lights made from red Israeli silk and red ceiling beams from Midwestern barns. Then we covered the walls with beautiful bleached white oak cabinets.
The overall effect of the new addition is both grand and welcoming.
